Multi Jet Modeling (MJM)
In the polyjet process (also known as multi-jet modelling, MJM), liquid polymer is applied drop by drop and cured.
In Multi Jet Modeling (MJM), also known as the PolyJet process, a print head with multiple nozzles applies small droplets of a liquid polymer onto a build plate. The material is cured immediately with UV light, building the component layer by layer.
Thanks to the very small droplets, the process produces the finest details and very smooth surfaces. Using multiple print heads, components can be printed directly in multiple colours, translucent or from multiple materials.

Frequently asked questions about Multi Jet Modeling (MJM)
What is Multi Jet Modeling (MJM)?
MJM, also known as PolyJet, is a 3D printing process in which liquid polymer is applied droplet by droplet and immediately cured with UV light. It delivers very smooth surfaces and high resolution.
What is MJM suitable for?
MJM is suitable for highly detailed models in model making, prototypes and applications in the automotive and aircraft industries.
How large can MJM components be?
The maximum build space is 1000 x 800 x 500 mm.
Are multi-coloured components or multiple materials possible?
Yes. With multiple print heads, components can be printed directly in multiple colours, and multi-material printing is possible. Thanks to droplet deposition, material and colour gradients as well as translucent materials are also possible.
Does MJM require support structures?
Yes. Overhanging areas of the component must be provided with support structures during printing.
Which materials are available for MJM?
The options are the rubber-like Agilus30, the ABS-like Digital ABS, the resin-based Vero and the translucent VeroClear with acrylic-like properties.
Note about material properties
Note: Please note that the listed values of the properties (e.g. tensile strength) refer to the properties of the material in an unprocessed state. Hoffmann AM can not guarantee the information below. In the printed state, the values may deviate from the specifications.
If a material in practice is pushed to the limits of the stated values, the component itself should be tested. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
